Melanie Beth Curran is a literary artist and folk musician in New York City. She performs the lost songs of Irish America and documents living folklore in the digital age. Her creative writing and performance work has been supported by the Fulbright Research Fellowship, The City Artist Corps Grant, The Queens Art Fund, NYFA and NYSCA. She was raised on Bainbridge Island in Washington State and came to NYC in 2017 to earn her MFA in Creative Writing from The New School in Manhattan. Her family ties are in Glenswilly, CO Donegal Ireland. 

Curran's work has been featured in JSTOR Daily, The Brooklyn Rail, The Irish Echo, Rick Steves Monday Night Travel, a variety of DIY zines and papers, amongst other outlets. She has taught or presented at Parsons School of Design, Montclair State Univeristy, Boston University, and Iona Univeristy.

Curran has lived and traveled all over, busking and performing with the deep extended web of freaks, folk punks, trainhoppers, vagabonds, traditional musicians, and fringe artists. She welcomes collaborations and ideas for all projects and visions.
